The story behind Plankki
About Plankki
Hei! I am Stijn, the owner of Plankki. Plankki was created after years of hobbying and DIYing with wood while having a full-time office job. Then I thought it was time for a real change and started studying carpentry to pursue my true passion. I haven't regretted it since!
A little while later, Plankki was born. With Plankki I create things from scratch, recycle, upcycle the old, or help with building spaces. I build things that people can enjoy every day for as long as possible. All creations are built and designed in Finland.
Previous work
Previous work can be anything from space improvements to renovations to furniture.
After having lived in Finland for over 10 years, I've got inspired by Finnish design, nature, its Sisu mentality, ways of living, and the extreme seasons.
I've also seen how wood has such a huge impact on Finnish society: it's used in everything you see around you, from architecture to furniture to art to warming up the sauna.
I somehow try to absorb all this in the work I do with Plankki and combine it with a little bit of Dutch influence and mentality!
How Plankki works
Discuss & design
I start by discussing design wishes and ideate designs based on the client's wishes.
Plan
With the rough designs in mind I can start planning, take measures, and forecast materials & costs.
Build
All materials are then carefully crafted and assembled into a high quality product.
